Just had my computer returned from HP, I sent it in for repair since the temperatures on both CPU and GPU got to 104C. The highest I've had it reach since then was low 80's..so i'd say it is better. But my laptop still idles strangely high, in the high 40's, mid 50's. Any clue why?

The fans will start up every couple of minutes around 55C, and then stop. Resource monitor says only 5-6% of my CPU is being used, and no program shows an outstanding amount of load.

    I have an HP dv6tse
    Ati 5650 Switchable graphics
    Core i5 450m
    Win 7

This seemed to be the best suited subforum for this question considering it involves the hardware, but mods feel free to move it if there's a better one.

Without posting your ambient room temperatures, your temperatures cannot be determined if it is overheating or not. 50C isn't surprising, especially in an HP. They have always had a poor cooling system design.
