My cpu finnally died on me yesterday so i need a new one which one you guys would be best on an MSI 1651 the one with the 9600mgt I do press the turbo button on it.

Okay i have two choices the p8700 from buy.com for $220ish.
    http://www.buy.com/prod/intel-core-...-53-ghz-1066-mhz-fsb/q/loc/101/211190660.html

Or i can go with the T9400 from ebay for $200 and get a 2 year square trade warranty on it for $50 more or so. Id be spending $250 you guys think it would be worth it and is square trade actually good?

i would look for P9500... it seems to get a 0.5GHz OC with turbo mode in MSI machines so you effectively got a T9900...

I'd go for another T9600 personally. Best bang for your buck, and it's generally pretty cheap.

Wait.. what? I've read that like 13 times and can't picture what you're saying... the jist of that was that you took your processor and tried it somewhere else, or did you take your GPU out and try it somewhere else? Honestly, if this T9600 really died and it's not the motherboard, then it's likely whatever caused it will do it again, because I've never seen a CPU die without an external factor causing it.. whether it be power surges or extreme heat etc.. I'm really not trying to be rude or anything, but I had a hard time reading that.

Does seem a bit strange, is your machine beeping? (bleep test thingy.)

Nope i also have an external board that connects thru usb and tells me whats wrong with the laptop and it defintly points at the CPU and tells me motherboard is working good. No beeping sound that I am aware of. I have used my friend p8700 from his laptop in mine for a whole day and I have had no problems what so ever on my laptop So i think i am almost positive it is my CPU. Unless by some miracle its not I have also ran diagnostics to make sure.

Ok, then I'd say that the T9600 is going to be your best bet... unless you want to go P-series, then I'd say P8700 or P8800.

T9600 would be good but u should be able to find a P9500 for less than $280... also look around on the forum's marketplace... there was an X9100 here for $275 once... u might find a great deal here..

okay now the real question is between the T9400 or the P8700 which is the best:??! no other cpu i might get the p9600. But between the t9400 vs the p8700 which is best for the 20% overclock on the msi when i play games.

T9400 for more performance... Overclock for both would be same , but T9400 would be better as it has more cache...
