Im looking to create a performance computer to last me a while, mainly for entertainment and a fwe videogames. I am wondering if the faster clocked i7-620m would be better than the i7 720qm for basic movies, internet and starcraft 2.

What would get me the best graphics and performance out of starcraft 2 and my system with that being the most graphic/cpu intensive gaming i do.(not sure if starcraft 2 takes advantage of multiple cores....)

oh and additionally with either processor will the 1066 vs 1366 mhz ram make a difference?

I think at this time the 620m would do fine and 1066MHz also fine. The lower latency of the 1066MHz brings it closer to the 1333MHz than the clocks would indicate. 620m only supports 1066MHz not 1333MHz.

Now remember CPU's are not very critical for most games. So in that regard I might get the quad i7 even if it runs a little slower w/2 threads than 620m. It could give you the 1333MHz RAM option and in the right circumstance/usage greater computational power.

Either one would be fine. No absolute correct answer to your question. Just different ways of addressing the situation. Good luck.

This thread is worth looking through:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/har...rmarket-upgrades/450403-i7-620m-vs-720qm.html

The bottom line is that both CPUs are fine, most people are recommending the 620M but IMO even an i5-540M is going to be more than fast enough for games . . . you can save a few dollars by going with that.

The video card is most important when it comes to games. What Sager are you looking at?

like charles says the best bang for buck in the core i line seems to be the 540m-thats if you will be using your sager for games and normal computing stuff like watching movies(hd), surfing, and such.
actually a better bang for buck would ba a fast c2d or c2quad since they can be found in the cheap right now but i dont think the new sagers carry the c2d or c2q anymore.

As Charles said I agree but if a Sager "Clevo" then like walking into a BMW dealer and saying I don't want rims I want steelies? Come on. If a 2098/Compal OK. If above getting an i5 is just stupid.

OP what model are you looking at as Charles asked?

Mr. Jeff is most correct....look what I have in my Sager ;)

I just think, again, in the bang for you buck department, an i5 or at most, an i7-620 is the best decision...
