the CPU heat sensor is not working.

anyone know if it can be replaced, or if there is another way to read temperature. (how about an Infrared reading device?)

the CPU temp sensor is very rare is be defective.

Have you tried multiple programs to confirm that its the sensor?
    - HWmonitor
    - Notebook Hardware Control
    - Everest
    - RMclock

If it does turn out to be the sensor, you should send in the system for repair/replacement.

    Which laptop is this?

You may be able to unplug the cpu thermal sensor. I know on the D900K, the thermal sensor for the cpu is connected to the board via a wire, which you can unplug.

Are you sure that you did not set the fan speed in the Bios to full?
Some clevo laptops have this option,

If you dont have this option, go into the Bios and load the default settings, and see if that fixes anything
