You'll be able to upgrade, but only from this list...
    P-M 735, 745, and 755.

Anything ending in a 7x 0 will not work and neither will the Core Duo or Core 2 Duo parts.

Question 1: Is the CPU in a socket, or is it soldered? (I suspect it is socketed because Google suggests this model was offered with a range of CPU speeds. However, I might be wrong).

Question 2: Will the BIOS support a CPU faster than 1.6GHz. (I see no evidence that this notebook was sold with faster CPUs. The BIOS support may be there. Or may not.)

Question 3: Is it worthwhile? If you can find a faster Pentium M (734, 745) for an attractive price then it may be worth trying. Otherwise more RAM or a faster HDD may give a similar boost to performance.

Overall, that's a nice looking notebook. The current equivalent is the P55. However, for all the technological progress, we seem to be losing out on battery life.

I should have added that you need to check if the CPU is connected to the motherboard by BGA or PGA. Download/run CPU-Z and the first opening window will mention the package type.

If it is PGA (pin grid array) then it is possible. If it is BGA (ball grid array) then you will not be able to upgrade.
