    Gurus,

I have a Toshiba A205-S4587 notebooks with Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T53003 1.73GHz, 2MB L2, 533MHz FSB with 64 and Mobile Intel® 945GM Express Chipset. I would like to upgrade the processor. Would you please advise which processor that I can use to replace my current processor for better performance.

    Thanks.

These are about the only faster processors you can get:

    Core 2 Duo T5500 1667 2048 667
    Core 2 Duo T5600 1833 2048 667

    Core 2 Duo T7200 2000 4096 667
    Core 2 Duo T7400 2166 4096 667
    Core 2 Duo T7600 2333 4096 667

T7200 or T7400 is probably the best value for Socket M if you need the upgrade to begin. For what are you using this computer?

I have ORacle database on the Laptop and I use it for Business. I have the 5400 RPM Harddisk and planning to got a 7200 RPM drive.

Question, the processot that I have is T5300 hich is 533 FSB and 2 MB L@ cache . But T7600 is a 677 FSB and 4 MB cache. Can I still use T7600 to replace T5300.

Yes, you can install the T7600, but I would advise against upgrading to a T7600, cause the processor is like $600, and the performance difference is not worth that much.
I would look around for a cheap T7200, for an upgrade. It has double the cache of the T5300, and it has a higher clock speed.

Chances are, you will not notice much from a processor upgrade, stick to upgrading your memory and harddrive first.

If you have important software on your harddrive, you will want to get a copy of Norton Ghost, or Acronis so that you can transfer your software to the new harddrive.
