    I'm am resurrecting this thread.

I have a preario 730us and want to put in the same CPU SergantNG did. The low voltage mobile athlonXP.

    Athlon XP-M 2400+ 1800 MHz 512 KiB 266 MHz 13.5x 1.35 AXMD2400FJQ4C

    My current chip is a:

    Duron 1000 MHz 64 KiB 200 MHz 10x 1.75 V 46.1 W DHD1000AMT1B

    CPU-z reports a current voltage of 1.65v.

My question is. Will the new chip get fried because of the higher voltage or will the motherboard see that the chip runs at a lower voltage and automatically set it at 1.35w.

I'm after a bit more speed and a cooler running laptop. The fan stays on constantly now. I don't really care about not being able to run the chip at 133FSB (unless someone has a fix for that :) )

    Thanks
