    Socket M / Socket mPGA478MT

Now i'm might be wrong but, most Core 2 Duos are gonna be faster but, boy are there a lot of them. I've seen some already for under $USD.

This is in a Toshiba L305-S5917

This is fora charity build so i'm trying to keep the cost odn'w since i'm pretty broke and jobless my self.

The best you can do in a Socket M is T7600, however these maintain their price pretty well.

A T7200 can be found for $20 shipped or thereabouts presuming you're in the U.S. and that's a very fine CPU for the given generation of laptops.

If you need to keep the cost really low, a T2500/2600 will run you no more than 10-15 shipped.

    Happy upgrading.

    Mobile Intel® GM45, GS45, and GL40 Express Chipsets

interesting, the laptop also has 2x1gb of ddr2 6400s. i'm wondering if it's down clocked. the socket saps "478MN". unless i swapped out all the ram from my friend who previously owned it and forgot... why would there be 6400s in there? GL40 on socket "M" twists my brain around.

I guess CPU-Z will tell all when i able to boot after an OS install.

since most of the launch dates are 2008 perhaps i done goofed and it is socket P?

If it is Socket P i can gangster a Core 2 Duo From one of my other laptops.

YUP! it's socket P: which is what i thought before i took it apart. it's too bad Google result for socket "478mn" don't relate or link to socket P.

EDIT: picked up a T5800 for just under 4 bucks. Guess i'll keep the T2400 for an experiment or upgrade another day. i have another toshiba with a pentium m, maybe i can see if plugging in a T2400 will set it on fire? :p
