okay so i have a clevo d900f laptop with socket 1366 support (so desktop processors) and im looking to find a new processor to replace my 920, i need to have a 6 core or else im not really going to feel like i upgraded much. my laptop supports xeons and i7's so far ive found the X5690 is the fastest for my laptop which beats out the 4770k and is a little behind the 3930k. but this is a $500 cpu. so let me know if there is anything coming close to being on par with that for cheaper. thank you

Why not get an i7-980X or 990X?

Or overclock the 920. They can do 4 GHz with adequate cooling and power.

those are both around $500 and the xeon would beat the 990x. My i7 option is the i7 970 if I take that route because it's only around $250 and competes with closely with the 980x. And the 920 can't be overclocked that high inside a laptop lol its already a 130w tdp and I have a 680m with a 220w psu

Well in that case get the 990X as it's the same chip but better overclocker.
