Can someone confirm that you can run 2 external lcds (your laptop screen will not be used and closed) in the following config.

1 lcd plugged into the laptop vga port
1 lcd plugged into an HDMI(laptop port) to DVI(LCD port) cable

both configured in dual view (you see different windows on each display).

If this is possible, which it should be , no reason why. Then alot of laptops out there that don't have docking stations could be used in a dual external lcd setup without having to buy costly hardware.

Please confirm and tell us about your display quality, normal? better? worst?

I have seen this question in many places and believe it would be valuable to the community.

Yea you can use a dual head 2 go. But then you would have to buy an additional device and have 2 lcds of the same size. Can anyone try this for us?

Ok since I can't find the answer on the net I bought a male-male hdmi to dvi-d cable and tried it out. Without using a dock I have my 20.1" 1600x1200 lcd plugged in to my laptops vga port. My 24" 1900x1200 via the dvi-hdmi cable.

Works great! So if you want dual external lcds hooked up to your laptop and you have a vga and hdmi ports you can do it! Keep in mind I have a fx570m (nvidia 8600gt) card which can drive my lcds.

This is a great option if you want dual lcds and the laptop you want doesn't have a docking station option.

    Cheers!
