    I wanna buy a TOSHIBA L323(maybe only available in PRC) with T3400/1G DDR2 667/250G HDD/X4500.At first I think this laptop's chipset is GM45,but now I found it's GL40.
    I searched a lot,and find laptops with GL40&T5900/T5800/T4200:

    ASUS: http://za.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=5&l2=74&l3=846&l4=0&model=2649&modelmenu=2
    ACER: http://www.bhineka.com/products/SKU00009212.aspx

I also found somebody said they have tested to run a CPU with 1066MHz FSB,like P8400 and P8600 on GL40.

He said that GL40 can support P8600,but it depends on the BIOS.

He said he had already tested to run P8400 on GL40(maybe on HASEE HP430).

That's more,I find many laptops with GL960 can support CPUs with FSB 667MHz,even 800MHz,so with the RAM.

Now my question is,can a CPU like T6400/T6600 run with full speed(FSB 800MHz and DDR2 800)on GL40?Is anybody there already tested?

Sorry for my poor English~ :D

P.S.L323 shares the same BIOS with Toshiba M300 and M800 series(which with CPUs like P8400/P7350/T5800/T6600)

AFAIK the chipset should support the T6400/T6600 and work if your BIOS will support it.

Btw, 800Mhz FSB doesn't mean you need memory modules running at 800Mhz.

I know, but I wonder if I use T6600 on GL40,will the DDR2 800 memory modules run at 800 MHz or be reduced to 667MHz?

Will the FSB of T6600 be reduced to 667MHz?
Or does GL40 support ddr2 800 memory modules run of full speed(800MHz) when the CPU have 800MHz FSB.
    Actually I have a desktop with P4 631 and 945GZ motherboard.The CPU's FSB is 800MHz,but the memory modules only run at 533MHz(a DDR2 667 and a DDR2 800)due to the limit of the motherboard.

The memory will most certainly run at 667Mhz with any CPU you install.

    Quoted directly from intel's website

So now i'm a little unsure if it will run anything above even 667Mhz FSB, but if you've seen others do it, then i guess that you could always try it out :) And if you have the same notebook you will most likely get it to work properly with the same BIOS they used.

What is the latest BIOS for your notebook?

But Intel also said GL40 only have 667MHz system bus.So with the GL960, which Intel said only support DDR2 533

Well, when the case is like this situation, the only option you have is to try it out and see for yourself. There is really no other way to know if you're not lucky to have seen anyone else done the same on the same notebook.

But as you've seen it on another GL40 chipset, then it's plausible.

T4200 is a Pentium Dual Core CPU with 800MHz FSB.
    I also find this:
    It updates in Feb.09.
Is it means may the Chipset of L323, which retail in Dec.08,not support DDR2-800 MHz?

Well, you mentioned T6400 and T6600 which is core2duo with 800Mhz FSB.

Yes, i think it means that. If it means the L323.

    I'm not care about CPU,someone tested P8400/P8600,so I think T6400/T6600 will works,too.
If L323 does not support DDR2 800MHz, I may wait for a new model...

    Hi,
I have ACER 5730 with 4GB DDR2, T4300 Pentium Dual. What's the chip on it GL40 or GM45. I test with CPUZ and EVEREST. They showed GL40, but on Intels Identification Utility shown as GM45. What is right?

DDR2-800 has no benefits in stock systems over DDR2-667...

I tried a T6400 in my GL-40 based Toshiba Satellite L355, and it detected it, but the CPU was extremely unstable
