I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A200, and I was wondering if it is at all possible to pull out the hard drive I have in now, and replace it with a high capacity one? There is currently a 120GB (5400rpm) SATA in there, and the motherboard is a Toshiba Satellite A200 (as indicated by Everest).
Thanks

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
You can use any 9.5mm 2.5" SATA1 or SATA2 hard drive or solid state drive. Period.

Sure you can. The best HDDs currently available are 500Gb 7200RPM units at about 120€.

Ohk awesome..
Now if I did do this, could I just create a backup/recovery disc of my current drive, and then after swapping the two hardware devices, load that data backup/recovery disc onto the new hard drive so that I still have all my programs and stuff ready to go.. -

If you are creating a backup/recovery disk by means of your notebook manufacturer's provided software, you are creating a backup/recovery disk that will restore your machine to its original factory settings. This image will NOT save your settings, programs, or files.
If you want to preserve your settings, programs, and files, you will need to create a current disk image (ie. with Acronis) of your drive and load it onto the new drive.
Or you can do a clean install or factory recovery and just reload your programs and copy the files off your old drive. -
Ok thanks very much for your help. Seems relatively easy to do
