Have a Dell 3542 Laptop with Intel HD 4400 Graphic Control ... computer does not have a VGA port .... can I add a external monitor using a 2.0 USB to VGA adapter Cable? Or is there a better solution?

    Thanks.

The 3542 should have an HDMI port; why not just use that?

He might be trying to connect to an old project/monitor or something with no HDMI but other than that, I see no reason why not to use HDMI...

The monitor I want to use has a bit of age on it ..... but your suggestion may make sense if I can find a cable with HDMI on one end and VGA or DVI on the other .... had been told a cable like this would not be available but perhaps the "teller" was just trying to make a little extra pocket change for himself.

Soooooo ... should I be able to find a cable like I need? ...... assume the simpler (least costly) cable would be the HDMI/DVI combination ... correct?
