I upgraded my macbook's memory a couple of weeks ago and I was thinking of giving my older modules to my dad so he can install it on his laptop.
The modules are 2 x 512MR HYNIX 2R x 16 PC2-5300S-555-12 (HYMP564S64CP6-Y5 AB, which I think is this
My dad's laptop is a Toshiba Satellite A20 with 480MB of RAM, which is this
So it is possible? I guess because it's 480, that means there aren't any free slots, which is fine (I'm not quite sure how he got 480MB RAM). I also noticed that it says PC2100, whereas the Hynix modules are PC5300.

Nope, they are not compatible. The RAM in the Macbook is DDR2, but the memory slots in the Toshiba support DDR RAM only.

Sigh... what do I do with these Hynix modules? Sell em for $15?
PS. Can't believe Apple charges $200 to insert more of this junk modules. -
I recommend you keep them just in case you need to send your Mac back in. Apple support will be much nicer to you if you give them the machine with all the original parts.
