Hi guys
Im currently trying to buy a laptop. I find one with a good screen, good cpu but the hard drive is always 5400rpm hard drive.
What Id like to know is if its possible to upgrade my hard-drive to an ssd in most cases? The comp I am currently thinking about doing it to is this one
GIGABYTE P15F v2 GTX 850M laptop

Yes of course that laptop will take any SSD drive. I highly recomend looking at a Samsung 840 pro I have one of these and it's been no problem at all for 6 months, it also has some of the best write ups. -
Thx mate
That's good to know but also if I choose a cheaper one can I also change the hard drive to ssd? Basically will most computers allow for the hard-drive to be changed to ssd?

It may be also worth checking whether the computer you are looking at has a SATA-II or SATA-III connection to the hard drive. Most newer machines have SATA-III, which allows you to take advantage of the full speed of the SSD. An SSD on SATA-II will still blow a HDD out of the water, but will be bottlenecked by the maximum transfer speed. -
I don't know of any new machines that use Sata 2 (unless you get a refurb running a Core 2 Duo, but that's not new).
Generally, you're looking for what size the laptop comes with, it it says it has a 2.5 inch xxxGB 5200RPM drive, you'll be able to put any 2.5 inch SSD inside, barring the rare few you might need a spacer for. -
Awesome thats saving me alot of headache...now for the next question lol

mSATA onboard. Use both drives.

An SSD will be one of the best upgrades you can do! I recommend checking out this guide if/when you get an SSD.
