Hi there!!! My first post here. I just bought a HP Pavilion DV9000 that has an AMD Athlon 64 X2 processor, 2gb RAM, 120gb hard drive and an NVIDIA MCP67M that provides a wimpish 64mb of video RAM. The graphics card is intergrated by the way.
Is there a way I can enable my laptop to play high end games like Command and Conquer 3? I've read some forums that say if your graphics card is struggling at 64mb your PC can use some of its RAM to support gameplay. Is this true or has desperation twisted my understanding?

Reboot your laptop, press F10 (it's that on my Compaq V6500Z) to enter the BIOS setup when it shows you the text prompt briefly at startup. Then you should have a menu option that allows you to change the amount of memory you want to allow the MCP67M to share. Seems like they default to 64MB, but you can set it to 128MB max. Your RAM available to the OS will decrease by a further 64MB. There are several different websites you can go to that if you allow them to install some files on your computer, will analyze it's capabilities and let you know if it will be able to run a particular game. Search for a thread on this site for "can my laptop run this" or similar and you will find a link to one such site.

borrowing memory when shared is really slow, dont expect tp play high end games well if at all... Dont own C&C3 not sure of its required graphics, its doubtful it will play well if at all if its a fairly recent game....Im srry dude.

Yup ...Video memory doesnt matter.. if its integrated it will struggle even with 128 MB ..coz the GPU core clock itself is slow & its integrated. You can play games released till 2005 easily but 2006 onwards no

you can play c&c3 on that laptop i have a HP pavillion dv6615 with 2gb memory and a 128mb mcp7m i can run it on nearly full settings. i can even play CoD4 and F.E.A.R you should be able to change the amount of video memory by entering your bios (f10) and going to advanced settings, atleast i think its in the advanced settings bit. hope that helps :)

i have the Nydia mcp67m on my new HP9700t and I tried to play an old game bejeweled 2. It ran extremely slow even though it runs fine on every other computer I have played it on. However I tried it on 3 different computers like mine. I changed the memory to 128 as indicated in the thread, but no difference. My friend has another HP laptop that has the same card and only two gigs of memory, I have three and his plays fine. It is not that intensive of a game, any ideas why it won't play on this model of computer. I actually have a dv9823cd that is part of the 9700 series I bought from Costco. I tried to update the driver from Nvidia and it said that I don't have a 32 bit operating system, but I do.

My brother has a dv6500 with that graphics card all you need to do is turn it off turn it back on press f10 to enter the bios and some where you should see somthing labled 64mb i dont remember what its called but itll be that much anyways change it to 128mb. Also oddly enough on this laptop you can overclock the intergrated graphics card. Just the core for oviouse reasons.
