    Can I go from a 3800 to a 5000?

    Does anyone know if I can replace the FX3800m that is currently in my 8740w w/ a 5000m? I need fermi.

    You should be able to on the 8740W, HP was offering the FX5000M for like 1400 dollars.

    lol 1400 bucks for a GPU? Your'e better off getting the Firepro M7820 or its replacement. Would be way cheaper.

    That's how much HP was offering the Quadro FX5000M over the 3800M. I don't think you can even get a brand new 8740W with the FirePro anymore.

    Yes you can. My replacement unit came last week with a new FirePro and they still selling models with that card.

    Hrmm well I was on HP's site and didn't find any that offered the FirePro cards. Maybe you have to call up HP.
