Hi!... New member here... If you guys get 2 know me, youll find out that i am COMPLETLEY computer illiterate...

    I was wondering if:

    A) I can swap this video card out with something else (perhaps the newer ATI 9000 series)

    B) Can I add more RAM into this? The "(256 x 1)" statement really worries me... Does that mean it comes with ONE 256mb stick or does it mean it only has ONE slot for RAM in it?

stupid questions I know... But I warned you! lol.

That IGP means integrated graphics processor, so no you cannot upgrade the video. There is a 99% chance you could upgrade to 2GB if you wanted to.

hey wait a second, since when were there actually computers good enough to have a 3 ghz processor but not a dedicated gpu?!?!?!?!?!?!

as for the ram, that means you got 1 256 mb card in there, there should be at least 1 more slot.

It's not a matter of being "good enough". There is no physical space in the laptop for graphics card. The 9000 igp is still a lot better than Intel's graphics, though.

tru tru, good point there. that must be why the monstorously thick and heavy alienware 7700 and dell ixps must have a supercharged vid. card.

One day standardized pci-express graphics will change all this.
