I want to upgrade my Asus g50vt-x5.

I want to put either a X9100 processor or a t9900 in it. From CpuBenchmark.com/org? it seems that the x9100 is only 1 point behind the t9900 but on Ebay is $100's cheaper so I'm wondering if the x9100 is compatible.

    Thanks.

Yes you can and the x9100 can be easily overclocked with throttlestop. Just keep an eye on your temps.

If you get the x9100, you'll want to under volt it. Under volting drops temps by like 12C

Didn't know I would want to do that.

    Two questions then.

How do I do that and why should I? I obviously don't want to melt my comp. but I guess I was just thinking that the cooling system I have now would be sufficient as it seems overpowered for the p7450 that I have.

    Here's a guide to undervolting: http://forum.notebookreview.com/har...arket-upgrades/235824-undervolting-guide.html

I'd say your cooling system is adequate, not overpowered. Your current processor is a 25 watt chip, and X9100 is a 45 watt chip. Thats almost twice as much. Undervolting will also give you longer battery life.
