Hi,
My notebook is Dell Inspiron 1420. Currently it uses T5750 processor.
I am thinking of upgrading it to the best as possible.
My target is the T9500 which has 2.6gb and 6mb cache.
Now, the main question... My current T5750 is a FCPGA processor and the one that I am hunting is a FCBGA one.
I ask the ebay guy, he says it's compatible but I would like to make sure it's 100% works on my dell.
Can someone help me on this?
Thanks

It is not. The BGA stands for Ball Grid Array, where the processor is physically soldered onto the computer motherboard. What your computer has, and needs, is a PGA chip (Pin Grid Array) where there is a physical socket.
Avoid that eBay seller...obviously does not know what they are talking about. -

Either way, it won't be compatible with PGA if true.

so it will not work with my dell?

no BGA basically means soldered to motherboard... BGA is non upgradeable .. if u had PGA it would work so no ur upgrade won't work.

the real issue is that the 1420 isnt compatible with the T9500 unless you do a pin mod. it wont work with the 800mhz FSB of the t9500. and obv BGA is soldered to the board.

From what I've found the 1420 uses the 965 chipset so it does support an 800MHZ bus.

1420 supports T9500, but not the BGA (if it's BGA) you'll need the PGA (with pin) ones.
If the seller said it fits, it might be a pinned T9500 BGA, or a mistyped PGA T9500.
send me a link and I'll tell you
Can I replace a FCPGA Processor with FCBGA Processor?
