I currently own an Acer 8930g-6448.

My screen is currently broken and with the model number LTN184HT01 made by Samsung. I was able to find a model(LTN18HT) that is 1920x1200 and also the model(LTN184HT01) 1920x1080.

Can this be done without problems can I upgrade the resolution without incident or should I just replace with an OEM screen?

i think the 1920x1200 and the 1920x 1080 screens have a different aspect ratio, and overall dimensions.
I am not 100% sure, but I do not think it will work.
You should PM "Zfactor", he is a guru with lcd's

Yes, 1920x1080 is 16:9 (width : height) and 1920x1200 is (16: 10). Two different sizes.

It depends on what diagonal size the screens are.. If your original screen is 15.4", you cannot replace it with a 16" one (just to cite an example)

As for the aspect ratio.. that isn't a definitive guide.. since manufacturers have been known to use weird dot pitches.. i have myself seen a few 15.4" laptops, with a resolution of 1366x768.

1366x768 is 16:9, not some random weird ratio. There are only 3 LCD aspect ratios : 4:3 (old) , 16:10 (standard wide screen), 16:9 (Newer 720/1080 HDTV aspect ratio Widescreens). Aspect ratio means the width to height ratio, this is a physical characteristic. 16:9 screens are physically wider than a 16:10 screen of same diagonal length.

No manufacturer will make a screen where the resolution doesn’t match the aspect ratio, because it will make the picture stretch, a square will look like a rectangle and a circle will look like an ellipse in such a screen.

you need to make some heavy mods to the screen bezel. i think it could be done though, but it won't be worth it.

Can I replace the screen of my 5920G (15,4", 1280x800, glossy) with the one from MacBook Pro (15,4", 1440X900, matte, LED backlight)? They have the same aspect ratio. If the connectors are different, is it possible to be changed?
