ASUS MXM type GPUs can only fit ASUS notebooks, Quanta can only make Quanta. This is because ASUS/Quanta/Compal/etc. themselves make the GPU and they make it so that it fits without problems. The 7600 in the Z84j is a 17" notebook as well, the cooling system is completely different.

so im stuck because all the cards are propriatary? any way to mod the cards and the heatsink? I doubt the principle of the cooling is different otherwise it would require a new form factor. If i cant swap between companies then what do i do to upgrade?

Actually, the Z84 uses Type III.

I might have a solution for you. Partial tests on the KN1 have been completed but were stopped.

It's really hard to say, since I don't know the size and sockets for the two cards. I can't say for sure it won't fit, but there are too many unknown variables.

Perhaps go to Ice-Tea's site or wait til he browses by and provides his knowledge on this topic.
