Like the title says, I'm getting sick of the heat :/ from the Quad. I'm not sure if the sockets are the same. By the way is there anyway I can sell the Quad chip if I'm going to get another quick and easy ? It's almost 2 gens old but I hope there's a vendor or someone to trade ..

I really don't see why not, the sockets are indeed the same.

I see no reason why it wouldn't work backwards (quad to dual). You would have more issues going from dual core to quad core.

Are you doing it on the older ENVY 15? Then beware, as HP has different boards for dual cores and quad cores.

^ Yes and Yes I'm aware of the Mobo too, I have the quad mobo with usb 3.0. Seems like the sockets are the same but since you just mention another factor :/.........

The Arrandale chips are also heaty too. And the nail in the coffin is that HP's cooling system for the older E15 is near the palmrest, so heat will always be there.
