I got HP DV6745TX Notebook for my girl friend and she will use it to surf internet/office 2003/music/movies + ipod movie/music converting stuff.
She will not play games on this system & only CPU hungry task will be iPod video converting (Not every day/once or twice a week)
Notebook comes with T5750 (2Ghz/2MB/667FSB) processor and i'm thinking about upgrading it to T9300.
Is it worth upgrading? or can I say her to keep it until Nehalem?![]()
-
Not even worth upgrading just because she would not use the extra power.
-
The T5750 is more than enough, but just FYI, the T8300 will be a better upgrade.
If upgrading to the Penryns, make sure to update to BIOS version F.45
Though, she won't really benefit from a CPU upgrade, a RAM upgrade (to 3/4GB) and a HDD upgrade (160GB/320GB 7200RPM) will be better. -
Yes you can, but the T9300 will downclock from 800mhz I think.
-
The T9300 will have a bus speed of 800MHz.
-
why the upgrade? The T5750 is much more than capable of converting itunes files. Get her something more her, instead of an upgraded computer chip, she will thank you more for being thoughtful

Thanx for your reply guys. I'm not going to upgrade her CPU.Instead of that I'm going to buy xbox 360 for her (She loves to play console games )
BIOS Version is F.58 & I'm thinking about ram upgrade to 4GB . BTW It comes with the 320GB Samsung 5.4K drive
Can I upgrade CPU to T9300 from T5750
