    Hello,
I am sort of dissapointed ..
I am a developer an just purchased a VAIO VGN-NW170TJ laptop, which has an Intel Core2Duo T6400 2GH z processor.
I installed Windows 7 Enterprise and need to run Windows XP Mode, but found that, in order to do that, the processor needs the VT feature :( .
Appreciate and advice on how to replace the processor and wich processor should I look for.
    Thanks

Almost all notebook CPUs are socketed, save for the ultraportables. It should be doable. I would point out that doing so will more than likely void you warranty if you care. Any of the Penryn 800MHz FSB CPUs like the T8100 or T9300 should work and support VT, if supported in the BIOS. I'm not super familiar with Sony laptops. I'd also make sure the notebook supports VT. Some do not even if the CPU does. I think I saw somewhere about some Sonys not support VT, but I could be wrong. Maybe you want to ask in the Sony forum. Better to find out before spending your money.
