So I have a 4-year old HP dv2000, recently upgraded with new hard drive and Windows 7 (GREAT refresh, by the way). Now I am wondering if there is a way to extend the battery life of this machine with newer battery technology. I look at products like the new Macbook Pros that are getting 8-10 hours, compare it to my 2 hours, and get jealous![]()
I understand that there are many factors at play here (more efficient use of power, non-replaceable integrated battery, newer technology), but I was curious if any more modern battery technology has been applied to a replacement 6-cell battery for my notebook? Does anything like this exist? I do also have a 12-cell battery that gets much better mileage (4-5 hours), but it adds a significant amount of weight.
I checked out the notebook battery guide on this forum, and saw a lot of useful information about extending the life of my current battery, but nothing on potential upgrades. Thoughts?

As long as I know each company/laptop has only so much compatible battaries that the manufacture. There are no other generic ones. Go to the website for you laptop and search for compaible battaries.
Or may be some one will list them here for you.
I'd also guess you were better off creating this thread in HP subforum.
I'd also give it 50% chance that moderator will move this thread for you.
Some other thought: what about buying a second battery? Keeping it in laptop case?
Also, batteries degrade with time. Even if you don't use them. If you have 4yr old battery chances are you'll improve your time dramatically with new one. -
Can I upgrade my battery?
