Im trying to figure out how to waste this 1000 dollars I won on a scratch off ticket. I'm thinking the best thing I could do is upgrade to SATA 6gb/s and sell my intel ssd's and get the realssd c300 sata 6 interface 256GB x 2 drives. On sata 6 interface the hit like 335MB/sec read and like 270MB/sec write all the reviews I see place it as the fastest performing SSD plus id get about 500GB of space. Maybe get a blu ray writer too.

SO basically can I upgrade to SATA 6?

Have you considered not wasting it, or giving it to me?
In any case, to get SATA 6Gb/s you'd probably be better off getting a new system.

Sell your machine and get a brand new one with the specs you want ;) A grand should cover any losses you make with the trade.

To get a C300 and run it on a SATA-III bus would be great if you're doing block sequential read/writes all day, but that is not the case. The OS does a lot of small 4kb multithreaded read/writes, which is what affects OS bootup and application response, both the C300 and X25M G2 are not even saturating the SATA-II 3Gbps bus. X25M gets about 160MB/s and the C300 about 200MB/s 4kb multithreaded reads on a AHCI interface.

So until SSDs improve, you'd only get limited value in going a sata-III interface.

M17x's MCP79 chipset only does sata-II 3GBps so you'd need to upgrade to something that does sata-III. I'd suggest save your pennies for expresscard 2.0/sata-III/USB 3.0 intel chipset notebooks to be released later this year.

Can some people chime in what they value my entire current system set up at. I've put quite a large investment in it but I know I want a USB 3.0 and SATA 6gb/s and expresscard 2 notebook. What do you all think would be the average going price of it. I got this system about 4 months after this version came out. The only BSOD I ever got was when I tried overclocking too high other then that this unit doesn't even BSOD (though I'm sure there is a way to do it I mean windows always finds a way.) I've never used dell Tech Support ever. Never had a problem. This system is solid.

M17X first version Aluminum chassis Space Black. Flawless cosmetics not a single scratch or dent.

1920 x 1200 Dual CCFL 17" LCD. Flawless condition. No scratches. No dead pixels.

Dual SLI 1GB GDDR3 Nvidia GTX260m (I think the 280's are overkill because these 2 260's ran everything i threw at it perfectly)

Core 2 Duo T9900 3.06ghz 35 watt BASE speed (upgraded myself due to the extreme edition 3.06ghz that dell offered used like 7 more watts of power, cost more money for the same performance and dell did not offer this chip as an upgrade option. With overclocking you could probably get 3.4-3.6ghz out of this dual core)

    Windows 7 Ultimate x64
    Microsoft Office 2007 Free upgrade t0 2010

    2 x 2GB DDR3 1066Mhz (4GB)

2x 34nm Intel X25-M SSD 160GB x 160GB (320GB) in RAID 0 (these are the latest Intel SSD's made with the smaller 34nm process. Increased speed and decreased power usage.

Nameplate Laser Engraved: Destrukt0r (cause it destroys benchmarks)

Slot Loading Blu Ray Reader + Dual Layer DVD+/-RW + CD-RW

    * Two Built-In Front Speakers

Internal High-Definition 5.1 Surround Sound Audio (use these outputs if you want to use a 5.1 surround system for movies)

Echo Indigo IOx Express slot sound card (96khz/24bit 106dB S/N ratio Stereo output + 96khz/24bit 104dB S/N ratio Stereo Input 1/8" size comes with 1/4" converters + High quality headphone Amp with manual gain control) (Use these outputs for 2.1 speakers for high quality music listening. Much clearer then the on board sound for music. Use the Inputs for much higher quality recording then the on board mic in.

Intel® Ultimate N WiFi Link 6300 a/g/Draft-n 3x3 MIMO and 3 antennas. (Never had a wireless network signal drop on me ever in my house or even on G systems. My Dual N band 300 + 300 Linksys runs at it's max speed when transferring files between computers.)

Integrated Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 (1000 Mbps)

Internal Wireless Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR

ExpressCard Digital TV Tuner, TV Tuner with Remote (only 1 express card slot so when watching tv you must use the on board audio.)

MyDigitalSSD 64GB ExpressCard/34 SSD Solid State Disk Sequential Read 125MB/s Sequential Write 30MB/s (only 1 express card slot but these 3 cards give you a lot of flexibility.)

AlienFX Illuminated Keyboard – Exclusive Design

Razer Mamba Lossless wireless connection 5600dpi variable laser resolution, 1000hz polling = 1ms response time. Works exactly equal in wired or wireless. Built in rechargeable battery.

Alienware Tactx Keyboard. Alien FX lighting. Internals based on the Logitech G15. 1000hz polling = 1ms response time. WASD cluster only lighting option. Media touch sensor controls.

Monitor ViewSonic 27 inch Widescreen LCD 1920X1200 1200:1 Actual contrast Ratio not Dynamic VG2728WM Ergo Design with Height Tilt Connector Type VGA HDMI DVI

3 year warranty with accidental damages covered ( 8 months used so far, 28 months left and can still be extended a 4th year for a possible total of 40 months)

The notebook isn't really that old. It can hold it's own to almost any of the brand new notebooks being released currently. I spent a lot of money doing all my little tweaks and enhancements. I would be truly grateful if I could have a few knowledgeable people give their opinion on what I should put the price at on ebay if I decide to sell it all and upgrade to the new sata III, Expresscard 2, and USB 3.0 noteboooks. I hope SATA III has an eSATA that runs at the same speed like SATA II has.

I can tell you like to stay at the cutting end of technology; however, at that rate you're liable to be selling your laptop every 6 months or so? Not that there's anything wrong with that. People have been doing that with cars, boats, and even houses for years.

I say sell it now, so you can get top dollar for it. Or at least before the fall specials, when all the new stuff comes out.

I have to agree here as well. It would be a rare real world situation the C300 would saturate SATA II. You would see it in synthetic benchmarks but that is about it. Now if the drive were more in the 500 MB/s capability range it might make more of a difference.

Now if you were runing a server that was well defraged and regularly transfering off large ISO's etc.........

Maybe you should try asking in the NBR Marketplace: Want to Buy/Price Check subforum? The people that check that subforum might be able to give you better ideas.
