Hey guys! I am getting my IFL90 (Sager 2090) in the mail in a week or so and was wondering something.

Say I'm feeling a little adventurous and want some more processing power (and a phat 45nm chip). Can I upgrade to that later? Thanks!

It is POSSIBLE that Intel will release a Santa Rosa based Penryn processor, but there is always a chance that the first mobile Penryn will be on the new Montevina chipset. In other words, maybe :)

Don't say things like that. We don't know at this point *if* only a BIOS update will be needed or if a motherboard replacement may be necessary. Even though the chipset is based off the 965, it doesn't mean compatability.

This has nothing to do with his notebook. The 2090 and the D901C use desktop chipsets. I.e. they can use 800Mhz ram and have 1033 fsb etc. They are not santa rosa.

You are mistaken. The Sager 2090 (IFL90) is a Santa Rosa platform system, and of course does not use a desktop chipset.

you can already buy Zeptos with the Penryn processors on the Santa Rosa platform... though currently they say they only work with vista, but are currently testing them with xp

This makes me very happy. Now whether I'll ever fork over the money to buy a new processor is a different matter, but knowing that I can upgrade it to some monstrocity with 6 mb cache makes me happy.
