    Hi,

    I've seen a laptop now equiped with a celeron 585 processor with GM45 chipset.

    Is it possible to upgrade this with a P8600 processor which also uses socket P?

    Theotically GM45 will support all 1066 FSB Core 2 Duo, but your manufacturer may whitelist CPU in the BIOS. What make/model is your laptop?

    I do not believe Clevo would have any kind of white-list, the brand is focused toward those kind of upgrades.

    Ah okay yeah Clevo is pretty much ultimate upgradability. I don't know if you can get a Core 2 Quad, but your best bet is to have this thread moved to the Clevo subforum, might get more answers there.
