I have 2x512 mb RAM left over from my HP dv2700t and I recently bought a Lenovo A61 Thinkcentre desktop that comes with only 512mb RAM. Can I use the HP RAM to upgrade my desktop?

No different number of pins different size.

No, but you could try listing your old RAM in the "for sale" section. You might be able to get a few bucks toward the RAM you need. If you do I'd be sure to check it out.
-
no, notebook ram is much smaller than desktop ram.
-
You could also buy a SO-DIMM to DIMM adapter))) there is one disadvantage though - that adapter will cost you much more than all your memory put together xD
Seriously, just sell it somewhere) -
No you cannot, but if you need ddr or ddr2 memory, shoot me a PM, I can hook you up with some for cheap.

If you're looking for DDR2, Fry's has it for cheap very often.
