Hello guys,
I am about to buy a HP Elitebook 8570w from ebay. I will get it within 7 days. The problem is that it doesnt has a graphic card installed in the mxm slot. The former card was a k1000m.
Now my question does a 8570w even start without a mxm graphic card? will it use the internal intel graphics?
Thanks

depends on whether or not that particular model supported Muxing as it sure wouldn't support Optimus which at minimum requires intel's 4th gen

The model wasn't sold in base spec without a GPU, reviews mention no switching mode to remedy the bad battery life, not promising.
Optimus works just fine on 3rd gen ivy bridge CPU with 4th gen integrated graphics, however maybe it wasn't enabled here due to the HD4000's bandwidth limitations - 4th gen iGPU specific issue (e.g. 30hz max @ 4K) that may be why it isn't implemented in this CPU/iGPU - due to the requirements of the 10bit Dreamcolour display
Given the importance of battery life in this class of workstation - I would think, if hp coulda, they woulda.ChanceJackson likes this. -

Can a HP Elitebook 8570w run without a graphics card installed?
