Hi. I have a Sony Vaio VGN-520N with 3 gb of RAM and runs on 2.26 gGHz.

I've jst found out about the new intel core i3 or i5. Can someone tell me if I could replace my old dual core to the i3 or i5? I have had this laptop of over two yrs now I love the 13.1" HD screen... I can not afford for another laptop. I can fork out another $100 or $200. If I sell my laptop for $700 and add another $200 which makes it $900. What good laptop can I get for that price? thanks

No u cannot due to different sockets etc... u can however upgrade the CPU... but best option is save ur money and get something else.. also for ur budget there are many choices so u need to specify somemore what u want.. either make a thread on the what notebook to buy sub-forum or give more info plz.
