Do you guys think a day will come in the near future when laptop batteries will have less weight? Is that difficult to achieve for the engineers?

Depends on the material used, though I would say no in the near future. After all, right now most are based off of electrochemical reactions and the amount of element determines the battery life. The more elements, the more battery life but the heavier it is. While new advances in nanotechnology allows energy transfer to be a lot more efficient, I doubt they will come to the market any time soon.

Lithium Polymer already has a better performance to weight ratio than Lithium Ion. That's why the new Apples get more run time while weighing the same.
Can batteries be made lighter?
