Not to hijack this thread, but that's one thing I believe strongly in, is that notebooks should become more standardized.
That's the only thing that I miss about desktops, is the ability to interchange any component. :(

bigspin i have another question since you have this laptop. I tried to use rivatuner to oc my current card but every time i adjust the core and mem it just resets itself. I told rivatuner to startup with the computer with overclock but it wont do that either. Any advice on overclocking my current card?

I wouldnt overclock your intenal graphics card, cause quite frankly the benefits are outweighed by extra heat, and the cost to you to replace the card.
The 8600GT is on an mxm card, so you can upgrade your graphics card. However, Acer did not make any follow up cards for that MXM slot.
If they do manufacture a ddr3 version of the 8600Gt, than you will probably be able to upgrade your card. Whether or not its worth doing that is up to you.

Your laptop has the ability to be upgraded, but acer has not made any other cards which can be put into that slot.

Your 8600M GS will do fine, it's a decent card when overclocked. If you don't want to overclock it, no worries, it's still an okay card.
