I'm a little lost here, hopefully you guys can set me straight. I have a 2 year old (Feb '09) Lenovo T500 with an Intel ICH9M/M-E SATA controller. The plan was to buy myself an Xmas upgrade to SSD but after looking on NewEgg and only seeing SATA2 drives I'm wondering if it would work or if it's even worth it. What do you guys think?

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Yes. SATA is SATA is SATA. You will reap the benefits way before hitting the limits of SATA 1 if yours is SATA 1.

The ICH9M controller supports SATA II. I know because that's what is in my W500. So don't stress, your T500 supports SATA II and it will greatly benefit from a new SSD.

The T500 has a SATAII controller, so it will have no problem with nearly all SSDs currently on the market. I have an Intel X-25M G2 80GB SSD in my T500, and it performs very well.

Fantastic guys that makes my day!
Can my T500 handle an SSD?
