    Hey guys

I'm curious about the following . I have 2 devices connected to my acer 8942g. They are both connected through USB 2.0 . The devices are as follows razer lycosa keyboard and cyborg rat 7 mouse. Could they be bottlenecking my system? The symptoms are as follows:

First keyboard : while gaming sometimes I loose control over certain keys that is for example w stops responding and I have to unplug and plug back in the keyboard.

With mouse : I tested the rat 7 against microsoft 1000 mouse and this is what happens. When I look into same spot in a game and move the rat mouse right to left frames drop by almost 10-15fps yes same spot and same magnitude of movement does not produce this drop with the Microsoft mouse .

Has anyone encountered this behavior ? Oh btw this is with i3 330m CPU as I'm awaiting a new CPU to arrive soon .

Both the keyboard and mouse will probably be polled at 1000Hz which will put more strain on your CPU than the default 125Hz. As well as that, your computer might not be stable with such a high poll rate since it isn't officially supported, most computers work ok with it but I can imagine some wouldn't handle it so well.

Also, are you using drivers with the mouse? It's possible that the drivers are horribly bloated and cause lag spikes when you move the mouse, I know my MX518 works better without the logitech drivers running.

A simple task as USB 2.0 devices should not strain a Intel Core i3 330m.
I connected a bunch of stuff to my stepdads i3 notebook and it dident even break a sweat.

USB headset, a mechanical keyboard, my external hdd and to top it off with my Logitech Performance MX.

Could be a driver malfunction perhaps?

If your power settings is on high performance try using balanced instead.
I'm also interested in this area as well cos i use a 3G modem, at the moment i'm using a USB2 powered hub but i'm going to change to a USB3 powered hub & see if that's any differant...USB2 will only supply max 5v-500m/a..... USB3 5v-900m/a....+ it allows send/receive to happen at the same time where i read USB2 doesn't.

I was seeing keyboard lag when i had my power settings set on high performance & that went away once i dropped it back to balanced.
    Using external USB k/b

This is wierd im in process of upgradign to i7 820qm and i will rehaul my whole OS , i will report back if the problems persist. Intersting thing is that a microsoft keyboard / mouse work jsut fine but a cyborg rat 7 5000fpi mouse with razoer lycosa keyboard have issues :D I think it could be driver related we will see after the reinstall ...

I see 2 issues there: 1. Acer and 2. Too much gaming ;) The combination of both leads to irritating problems.
