I'm a total newb at SSDs but was looking to get one of the Intel G3 SSDs for my new x17 R3. I was looking at these 2 300g drives but I don't know what the difference is. Could anyone enlighten me?

I jumped to a conclusion. I was wrong.

Its not that clear yet,
You can check Intel Solid-State Drive FAQ Table of Contents , where you how intel classified their ssds,
The main difference on amazon sku is the B n K (the rest of the number is the same), by intels past denomination i would assume the K comes with extra software with cloning kit, But the B is not there to know what it comes with, so i open a thread to see (as amazon description not always accurate), Intel 320 digits product code, but no answers yet.
One wierd thing is that i havent been able to find B in other websites, only K, I also contacted amazon customer service and they dont know. Now by Amazon description (not to be trusted always).....
K
B
So the versions seems the same with that extra kit, if you check the price, the B is slightly more expensive but with bigger discount ending cheaper.
Another interesting thing is i dont see Bs in other places, could be an amazon exclusive, while K starting to show up everywhere, at some point i even though B was for brown box.... but its just speculation.
Hope some of what i posted helped, i ended up ordering the K as its the most widely available and common, but the B is cheaper and seems to come with more stuff. -
Do you have a source? both in amazon description say 2.5, the numbers are almost identical so its more the packing or whats included, but the drive itself seems the same.
-
Look at the product dimensions on the amazon product details for each of the drives, the sizes and weight are different.
Edit: Nevermind. I'm wrong. I guess the dimensions are for the whole package and not just the drive. -
But both say 2.5 in the title weird.
-
one is in a retail box, the other OEM.
i'm like 99% sure thats the difference. -
Ok, did some digging for warranty info on OEM packaged ssds and found information in regards to the different serial#s.
serial #s ending in:
10 = OEM brown box
K5 = Reseller box
B5 = Retail box
Here's a link with more info:

Thanks so much. So I want to get the B5 then right.
-
Oh and plus rep
-
Thanks for the link, still the K n B is not clear to me, i know whats a retail box, but a reseller box....
From the first link i posted which is suppose to be Intels,
So im still confused. -
Regardless of whats inside of each, i think both are retail, just the B comes with the extra USB cable. Now just be careful as the drives starting to appear in other retailers and are jacking the price, amazon already reacted with the K,
Intel 320 Series 300 GB SATA 3.0 Gb-s 2.5-Inch Solid-State Drive SSDSA2CW300G3K5 $608 (was $544 today earlier)
Intel 320 Series 300 GB SATA 3.0 Gb-s 2.5-Inch Solid-State Drive - Retail Box SSDSA2CW300G3B5 $539 (for how long it stays that low who knows....)
If you are sure what you want just preoder, i believe the prices wont come down anytime soon, are more bound to up as it happen with the K. Im staying with my preorder with the K as the B now show 1-2 months while the K show 1-3 weeks, but now the price difference.... i would go with the B if I hadn't preorder. -
Ordered the B. Should be pretty sweet coming from a normal HDD.
-
I bet your glad you preordered, already went up some
Btw on other forums, they were saying the pictures on amazon on of the box were different but also the number on the sides of the boxes, could be a typo o a bad pic... the K has a 5 on the left side n the B has a 3, on the X25m 120gb photo is more legible, seems to be warranty, could be also an outdated or bad box picture.
Can someone tell me the difference between these Intel 320 series 300G drives
