My Vaio TX790 has this drive and I want to know if its able to really burn DVD-RAM discs, because Sony has only mentioned it can read DVD-RAM discs which I have tried and which works but it doesn't let me burn the discs. However, I saw a review of the TX by laptoplogic and a European review site that both said it can read and write to DVD_RAM discs. Also, one person who said he has a different laptop but the same optical drive told me that the drive and read and write the discs.

So, can anyone clear this up to me once and for all? Thank you.

I thought it did do DVD-RAM. Does it say DVD-RAM in Windows Explorer? You also have to format the disc before dropping any files onto it.

No, it just says its a DVD-RW drive but it can my DVD-RAM discs, just not write to them.
A couple of reviews like on laptoplogic specifically said it can burn DVD-RAM discs, maybe I need some new firmware or special software?

    Anyone, please help!!!!!!!!!
