    Can touching LCD with fingers damage it?

    And then I mean by static electricity build up in body would damage the LCD and cause failing pixels.

    Touching the casing of silicon chips can cause them to fail due static electricity, shouldn't the same apply for LCDs?

    Except its coated in non conductive materials. There are no exposed traces to short.

    Only if you're Static Shock. Otherwise, its not likely. But you can damage the screen and cause a dark spot with too much pressure. Thats much more common and likely.
