Im thinking of flashing my 9800m gs to 9800m gts and I was wondering if it was possible to do on Asus G50vt X5 because I heard that it only works on some laptops. And my idle temp is like 60 degrees celcius right now. So i was wondering how much of a performance will I gain and how much hotter will my card get? And how should I do this??

lol... o and do you guys think I should overclock it? Like I m hitting above 60 degrees celcius and I don't want to fry my 9800m GS by doing this

I would say anywhere under 75C is fine (as a max temp with furmark or something that will get it really hot).

That's pretty bad, I would clean out the dust and change the thermal paste.

Overclock using NVDIA system tool 6.06 to OC.. works like a charm with 190 series drivers.. just make a profile to load at startup... easy and no problems.. takes me 5 mins to set up..

    LAMO! :D

what is the benefit of the flash over just overclocking it to the GTS speeds?

u can change the name of card... only other benefit is that u don't need to install the software each time u install windows again...

Using the util is better as then you can fine tune the OC. If you bios flash you are stuck there as the start offs. Since the cooling solution isn't the best in those latops that could be a really bad thing.

Are you sure? Most people say Under 90C.

I had the exact same laptop(Asus G50VT-X5). Mine got to a max of 86C after like 2 hours of MW2 on the highest settings. @ OP, I'd say your temps are fine. When they get to 90, then start worrying. Furmark gets most laptop over 90C.

...regardless of the safety diff between 80-90c, ramsinks are tiny and sticky and improve cooling wherever you can fit them. also come in a variety of shapes and colors :D

Since i got the SSD I Moved It Closer To The CPU And Moved The 750Gb Heater To The Other Side, And Bought Some Ram Heat Sinks And Some Small Mosfet Sinks And As5ed Them To The Video Card Sink For More Heat Diss! Works Great!! Thing Stays Cooler Now Overclocked Then When It Was Stock With The Stock P7450, O Yeah And On The Botton Of The Lappy I Modded A 2" Hole Under The Fan, And Added Some Metal Screen To It...
