I mean, plugging together two F/M VGA cables to get a longer one? I'd actually need ~9' of cable for my room's set up and 6' cables are $4.99 while 15' cables are $19.99

I'm guessing you could, but aren't most VGA cables M/M?

You can daisychain, extend, "parallel" or do whatever to the vga cable and it should theoretically work. But you'll loose considerable amount of signals. Unless you boost the signal up with a booster, the signal will be pooor.

I just bought a 10' F/M one but the picture quality is really crappy. There'd a ghost effect on screen for God's sake. I'll probably return it and get a 12' M/M in exchange. Would the signal suck too because of the length?

    Thanks guys

Well the actual set up now is a 3' M/M (that came with my monitor) with this 10' F/M cable that cost me $6. If I replace everything with a 12' M/M it should work?

Its most likely the length of the cable - some graphics cards just dont output a very strong signal.

It's from my laptop. I use my external monitor mainly for HD anime/movies/series and they look like they are in 800x600 when upscaled from 720p to 1080i on my monitor. (It's a BenQ E2200HD). I bought this so I could stop moving my laptop across my room when watching things. But the signal being too little is possible and it was one of my guess =/

I really only need 10'. The signal's strong enough for a 6', but not a 16'. I wonder if it would work with a 10'....

Yes you can put them in series but make sure you are using the proper adapter so as to avoid a messing up your graphics.
