Is the P505-S8970 able to upgrade the processor ? Currently it has Processor Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 / 2.2 GHz
Chipset Type Mobile Intel GM45 Express

I'm looking to upgrade to a T9600 or P8800 or something in that range.

Searching for your model number to determine what chipset you had, I came across this:

    http://laptopforums.toshiba.com/t5/...the-CPU-be-upgraded-for-P505-S8970/m-p/100735

Of course, it doesn't help you, but I thought it was funny.

And I think you should be fine to upgrade to something like what you suggested. I'd personally recommend a T9600. You get the best bang for buck, and with a little undervolting, you can heighten the battery life to that of a laptop with a 25W CPU, and offset the slightly higher heat output.

you should have no problems with using T9600 or P8800 with GM45 chipset but T9600 is a way better deal.. if u really want something more powerful , u can get T9900 which is about 0.3GHz faster than T9600...
