I'll be purchasing an Acer Travelmate in the next few weeks. I chose the 2480-2679 but then I just discovered that the 3260-4874 has with a better processor (I think?) with minimal cost increase. But according to you guys (Notebook Review) and Wiki, the Celeron M440 is a core solo in disguise with speed step disabled, reduced L2 Cache, etc. So I'm thinking that the Core Solo T1350 with speed step, 2MB L2 Cache, etc. will have better performance, especially since I'll be using XP Professional with 1.5GB RAM. Is my logic sound? Which processor would you use?

Yeah, I know Santa Rosa is out but I can't make it happen right now.

Theres practically no difference in performance of the two processors. Both use the same core and both have roughly the same specifications, except for the L2 cache, where the Core Solo has more. The main difference is that the Core Solo has SpeedStep, which can reduce the clockspeed of the processor, so it can reduce heat output, and also power consumption.
