Hi all,
recently i upgraded my sony vaio PCG-V505DC1P(1.4G stock) notebook processor to the new 1.7G Dothan Pentium M processor. Windows XP can pick up the new CPU okay, and when it boots up, the BIOS recognizes it as the Pentium M 1.7G, BUT the processor is always running at low voltage mode no matter what (600Mhz). I thought about updating the BIOS firmare but Sony website does not have any updates on the BIOS flashes.
I tried SpeedSwitchXP, it didn't work, the AC adapter is constantly plugged in, and I change the power profile to Always On with no luck. Does anyone here have similar experience on how to get it working at full speed (1.7G).
Thanks very much!

Hi mate,
I am chasing a new Motherboard for my Sony VAIO PCG-V505DC1P
Do you still have the parts left from your upgrade and would you be willing to sell them?
Cheers

Have u tried CHC (Centrino Hardware Contorl)? Try that and let us know. -
Chaue,
Check the BIOS to see if you have an option like Enhanced SpeedStep. IF you do, make sure it's enabled. Turning it off will make your CPU run at approx 600Mhz (800Mhz for the newer units, but you're should be 600Mhz).
