Centrino Duo vs. Core Duo

What is the difference? I ordered a dell e1505. The specs said it was a core duo. However when i got it the sticker on it says centrino duo. I was just wondering if anyone knew what the exact difference is and which is actually "better"?

Core Duo is the name of the processor.

Centrino Duo is the name of the whole platform, which includes an Intel Core Duo processor, a specific Intel chipset, and an Intel 3945 wireless card. It's just a marketing gimmick, designed to indoctrinate customers, so that they won't accept the same notebook coming with, let's say, a much better non-Intel Atheros wireless card, because "it's not a Centrino Duo, just a Core Duo".

So, yes, a Centrino Duo notebook does have a Core Duo processor. But, practically, it's a worthless label.

 

Ervin gave you a website that completely spelled out your answer. If you actually looked at the webpage you would see that centrino is the name of the entire system put together.

On the right side of the page it says

Components:
Intel Duo Processor
Intel 945 Chipset
Intel Wireless

Meaning the duo processor is just one part of the entire centrino system.

Ervin was trying to help you, you dont have to be computer savy to be able to read.
