Might/might not be possible. They are pin compatible, but the main issue is BIOS compatibility. If the BIOS is able to recognise the cpu correctly then there should be no problems, but if it doesnt then the cpu wont run at its full capacity or the computer might not even boot up. The only way to check whether the BIOS is compatible or not is to:

    1. ask the manufacturer - probably wont get a straight answer from them and in most cases they will say not possible.

    2. check to see whether your model(S1000) did come standard with a Dothan core processor, if it did then the BIOS would support it.

    3. search around for someone who has done the upgrade & ask them whether it worked or not.

4.Try it the hard way - try and upgrade & see if it works!
Also check to see whether the manufacturer has released any BIOS upgrades which *might* have included Dothan support.
IMO, I think the Dothan upgrade might not work, the BIOS is the key part on whether it will work or not.

Regarding the hard drive upgrade, yes you can replace it with a 7200rpm 2.5" hard drive. It should not pose any problems & in most laptops it is as simple as unscrewing 2 screws & taking out the old & swapping in the new.

I'd upgrade the hard drive first, then see if you want to do the CPU.
