I'm having serious eye problems caused by the LED LCD display, maybe i'm one in a million with that issue, but i really can't take it anymore and can't get use to it. I don't have this problem with the old notebooks which had CCFL LCD (if i know well, i'm not an expert). Obviously i don't want to use old notebooks, because i need newer hardwares, but new ones always come with LED backlit. What can i do? My ASUS K52JE laptop has 1 more year warranty, but the service won't help me with this. I'd appreciate any suggestions, thank you.
It's an older topic, but explains my problem:

i dont think you will be able to change it to CCFL as there wont be room in the case that holds the LCD to put the lights
one of the selling points of LED LCD`s was there alot slimmer as they dont need the space for the light strips -

I think the only way forward for you is to invest in old tech external monitors. This won't help with using the notebook on the go, but will surely be worth it when you're at a given office/location consistently.
Good luck. -

The newest and most powerful notebooks that use CCFL screens are the MSI gx640, gx740, gt640, gt740, ms-1656, ms-1727 etc. The only i5/i7 laptops with ccfl screens unless I'm mistaken.

The M17x R2's 1440x900 (default) screen was a dual-CCFL screen, I believe. The 1920x1200 upgrade was RGB-LED.

Question for the OP. What exactly was the problem with the LED screen? Too bright? Flicker? What? Reason I ask, is I see absolutely no difference between the LED screens and the Fluorescent screens. Well maybe the LED screen can be set a little brighter but that is it.

LEDs are run on a different frequency with PWM, some people are sensitive to this. I think the LED backlight might be more visible through the screen as opposed to a CCFL which is at the bottom and reflected vertically.
