Was hoping someone can help me with this. I only found one memory stick, instead of the usual two, in my Sager NP9170 when trying to upgrade the RAM. The one that I found was in the largest bay area, with no HDD's.
Reason I know there is another one, because my computer settings say there is 24 GB, but I only installed 16.

Check this video out and watch from 0:30-1:30. It will show you how to remove the keyboard to access the other two RAM slots on the other side of the motherboard.

4 ram bays. 2 in base and 2 under keyboard.
normally the 2 in base are used first for easy access but strange if they put one under the keyboard and one in the base. -
My NP8150 came with 2 sticks of 4GB each under the keyboard and 1 stick of 4GB in the other ram bay, leaving one slot open there. Maybe the OP has two sticks under the keyboard. To the OP, how much ram did you start with, and what size did you replace?

I think general practice (though it may easily vary) is for resellers to populate the banks under the keyboard, as those are more difficult to reach. We populate those so that it makes it easier on the customer to upgrade the memory later if they wish.
