Hi All.
I recently acquired a new laptop (specs in sig) and currently screen rate is set at 60Hz, although I think the card is capable of having a higher refresh rate, as I have tried it on an HDTV (via HDMI port).
Are laptop GPUs/screens not capable of more than 60Hz frequency?
Additionally, I haven't tried it yet, but if I connect my laptop to the HDTV, would I be able to change the refresh rate to match HDTV-like refresh-rates? I just read through some threads that LCD monitor refresh rates can't be changed, silly me.
Lastly, I noticed the first time I connected my laptop in our hdtv, it suddenly spiked hotter. Would connecting laptops into HD displays give additional stress to the GPU/CPUs? Would that kill my notebook?
Thanks![]()

It is.. probably up to 200Hz.
It's not actually 60Hz as LCD screens don't have refresh rate, they have a response rate.
You can change the setting to match the TV. Probably still 60Hz
Yes.
It's possible but unlikely. If you want you can download HWMonitor to check the GPU's core temperature. Make sure the GPU stays below ~80C
Changing Screen Refresh Rate?
