I'm considering high refresh rate 1440P g-sync gaming. So, id like to swap my monitor out.
Ive found the B173QTN01.4 it uses a 40 pin connector just like my current laptop, and my laptop is already G-sync capable. Is this a direct swap out, and GO?

    I'm considering 1440P 120Hz TN

    Or

The newer 144Hz 1080P IPS panels I do not see any on the market yet though.

Thanks for all of the HELP!

If B173QTN01.4 was not offered as a factory option in your model you almost certainly will lose gsync as its based on a whitelist method - the combo of motherboard(model) + GPU + panel (down to the revision) need to be specifically certified (i.e. OEM pays mucho $$$ to nvidia) to have gsync.

Easiest upgrades are when you're swapping between panels your model came with from the factory, for other reasons: EDID (firmware), connector location, display cable, brightness control are potential things that can cause compatibility and/or functionality issues.
